Week 39 - Working Hard

Howdy!

This week was been pretty fun! Elder Warner and I have been having a blast and working hard. We did service this week for an older, less-active woman in the ward. She asked us to install a hardwood floor for a room in her basement. We have both never done that before, but we figured it out and now we're professional floor people. We're going to start a business when we get home haha. Her son has this huge arsenal of weaponry in the basement that we were working in, so we took a bunch of pictures with them :). They're air-soft guns, but they look pretty legit.

We taught Suzanne a few times this week. We're just trying to help her build her faith, so she can have the courage to quit smoking. It's slowly coming, but it's really hard for her. She keeps on reading her scriptures and coming to church though, so that's really awesome. Her faith is building for sure.

We weren't able to meet with our other investigators this week, but hopefully we can get with them sometime next week.

I got to go to the Halifax Temple this week, which was cool, and I also got to see Elder Ipson for a bit!  I'll see him again tomorrow at zone conference, and we'll take some good pics.

That's about it for this week. Love you guys!

Week 38 - New Companion (Elder Warner)

Hi Everyone!

Well this week was transfer week, and I'm getting a new companion! His name is Elder Warner! I can't wait to get to work with him. He's getting pretty close to the end of his mission, so I may be his last companion before he heads home to Salt Lake.

We taught Suzanne twice this week and she's now on date for baptism! June 24th is her date. She's going to have to work really hard to give up smoking though. She's been smoking almost 3 packs a day since she was in 7th grade. She starts having anxiety attacks whenever she thinks about quitting, so please include her in your prayers.

We also got this awesome family as a potential this week! If we can pick them up as investigators, it'll be such an amazing family to teach!! Please pray for the Whynot family! (I know that's a funny name but that's actually their name!!)

We just got back from an all you can eat sushi restaurant with one of our recent converts named Jonah. I ate 40 pieces of sushi. I feel weird.

That's about it for this week! Love you all.

Take Care,

Week 37 - Happy Mother's Day!

Hi Everyone!

Happy Mothers Day to all the moms!

Speaking of Mothers Day, it was nice to Skype home and see all the family!!

This was a pretty good week. Our investigators are all progressing slowly but surely. We taught Suzanne twice this week. She said that baptism is something that she would like to work towards! We just have to help her quit smoking. She's smoked for over 40 years, so it'll be tough but I know she can do it! She's such a sweet lady, and it's fun to teach her!

We also did a Mothers Day booth in downtown Dartmouth this week that went pretty well. The only downside of doing such things in Dartmouth is we don't get to teach any of the people that we find unless they live in Cole Harbour, which is pretty rare. But it was still fun. We did it by a stop light, and I was holding up a big sign that said, "Honk if you love you mom!" A bunch of people honked and thought it was funny.

That's about it! Hope you all have an awesome week. Love you all.

Week 36 - An Awesome Week!

Howdy!

This was an awesome week!

We found a new investigator! Her name is Suzanne. We knocked on her door Wednesday, taught her on Thursday, had a church tour and lesson with her on Saturday, and she came to church Sunday! We're meeting with her again tonight. She's really had a rough life up to this point, so she's hoping that the Church can bring her more happiness. She's in her 50's and has been smoking since she was a teenager, so we're going to have to help her overcome her addiction. It'll be awesome to see her life change as she works with us.

We have the stake president in our ward, and he's a beast member missionary! He's a vet, and he talks to people about the Gospel everyday. We taught a lady in his home this week, and it went really well! Her name is Roxanne. A lot of the lesson was just us answering her questions about women and the priesthood and the kingdoms of glory. We're meeting with her again this Thursday!

The weather has been great this week! We got to finally wear short-sleeves, and it felt good. I love being by the ocean. The other day, we were driving along the coast and there were some huge waves! I didn't have my camera with me, so I couldn't take any pics, but it was awesome. You could hear the waves crash from a half a mile away.

That's about it for this week! Love you all! Have a good week.

Week 35 - Feeling a Bit Foggy

 Hi Everyone!

It has been a really rainy and foggy week here, but I've loved it. Knocking in foggy weather is a blast, and it feels really good.

We couldn't find any investigators this week. But we talked to a TON of people, and we have a couple of potentials who may turn into investigators. We just have to follow up with them. We would've picked up this woman as an investigator, but we weren't able to teach her because she lives only with her other roommate, so we had to give her to the Cole Harbour sisters.

One door we knocked this week a guy answered and was like, "It's the Jehovah's Witnesses!" and I was like, "No." and then he was like, "Yeah I know. I'm a Mormon." Turns out the guy is a less-active high priest!! He said he had prayed for missionaries to stop by and give him a blessing a few weeks ago. He has been struggling with a stomach infection recently, so we gave him a blessing for that. We asked if we could come by and work with him and he said that was okay! So we may start working with him soon.

Well, this week was a good one! Love you all!
